Get Noticed on LinkedIn: Join the CommsCOM.org Expert Talk

October 16, 2026
Friday, 30 October · 3:00-4:30 PM (GMT+1) · Live on Zoom · Free for CommsCOM.org Pro members · 10€ for non members

Whatever your next move in comms looks like, someone is most probably going to check your LinkedIn profile before they contact you. A recruiter, a hiring manager, a potential client, a partner, a journalist. It happens before the first call, and it sometimes decides whether there is a first call at all.

In CommsCOM., the community of almost 1,000 communicators from around the globe, we are job seekers, in-house comms people, consultants, freelancers, entrepreneurs and agency owners. Our goals are different, but LinkedIn’s algorithm is the same for all. And in many of our conversations, the same thing comes up: LinkedIn is the tool we know we should be using better, and the one we feel least sure about. What should the profile say? What is worth posting? How to navigate the algorithm changes? How do you get seen without feeling like you are constantly selling yourself?

The question matters more now. With fewer permanent roles and more of us moving towards fractional work, retainers and consulting, work is increasingly found through connections and visibility rather than solely job ads and applications. Being easy to find and easy to say yes to, is part of the job.

CommsCOM.org Second Monthly Expert Talk

For the second session of the CommsCOM.org Expert Talk series, we are hosting a live, practical talk on LinkedIn for comms pros.

Our expert will be Sofia Oliveira, a science communication and marketing consultant with 9 years of experience. Sofia works with science-driven startups and small companies across the EU to improve brand awareness, generate leads and raise investment. She is also a LinkedIn expert who has grown her personal brand from 500 connections to 24k followers in under 3 years. She is also a remote jobs advocate and shares remote opportunities in sustainability with her community every week.

She will start with the big picture and finish with the details:

  1. How LinkedIn can help your career
  2. How to make the most of LinkedIn
  3. A deep dive into profile optimisation

Whether you are looking for a job, building a freelance practice or running your own agency, your profile is the common starting point. Have yours to hand, because the last part is all about it. The session is live, with a presentation followed by Q&A, and moderated by Mariana Castaño Cano, founder of CommsCOM.org and 10 Billion Solutions.

Conference Season Returns: A Full Calendar Is Not a Strategy

Between 17 August and 2 December 2026, at least seven important climate and sustainability convenings will compete for your attention: UNCCD COP17 in Mongolia, Baku Climate Week, Climate Week NYC, Munich Climate Week, CBD COP17 in Armenia, COP31 in Türkiye, and STEP by Pollutec in Paris. This is a rundown of all seven and for each there is the one question you should answer before deciding whether each one deserves your organisation’s time, budget and exposure.
