Working with the UN to Advance Climate Transparency

Since 2022, 10 Billion Solutions has been collaborating with the United Nations organisation to advance the transparent implementation of the Paris Agreement. Central to this effort is the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF), a cornerstone of the agreement that enables nations to track the progress of their national climate plans in a transparent and actionable manner. By fostering trust and increasing accountability among nations, and engaging non-party stakeholders, the ETF ensures a holistic and robust climate action framework.

Thanks to her deep knowledge of the UN Climate Change process, Mariana Castaño Cano has a strong ability to communicate its complexities with clarity and precision to diverse audiences—from experts to the general public—and has been instrumental in our efforts.

In 2022 and 2023, 10 Billion Solutions supported UN Climate Change by conceptualizing the initiative #Together4Transparency and facilitating technical and high-level events during major climate gatherings. These included Regional Climate Weeks in Latin America and the Caribbean (Dominican Republic in 2022, Panama in 2023), Africa (Gabon in 2022, Kenya in 2023), and Asia-Pacific (Malaysia in 2023), as well as annual UN climate change conferences in Bonn, COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, and COP28 in Dubai.

In 2024, our collaboration expanded with the UN’s Climate Transparency Platform initiative or CBIT-GSP implemented by UNEP and the GEF, contributing to the design and delivery of the inaugural Global Transparency Forum in Tokyo, Japan. This groundbreaking event brought together stakeholders from around the world to exchange knowledge and foster innovative approaches to transparency in climate governance. The success of this initiative has laid the groundwork for the second edition, set to take place in Brasília, Brazil, in 2025, with Mariana Castaño Cano as its facilitator.

10 Billion Solutions contributed comprehensively to these projects, from conceptualizing events to crafting communication strategies, including developing key messages, promotional materials, and digital content. We also provided logistical support through tools like Trello and produced final balance reports.
